Teriyaki Flank Steak

This might just be my favourite recipe of all time. Not to toot my own horn or anything but I'm pretty sure I could eat this for dinner every night. People also ask me how to make their dinners more interesting and this is the perfect way. The plain ol' chicken breast can get boring so this is a simple recipe that will easily become one of your go-to meals each and every week.

The best part about his recipe is the marinade that also doubles as a reduction to serve over top. The sauce reduction is so incredibly flavourful! Not going to lie I could probably eat it by the spoonful.

While testing this recipe I also tried cooking the steak on broil in the oven rather than my typical method of BBQ. I was sceptical but I don't think I'll cook flank steak any other way from now on! I heated up the broiler, and placed the marinated steak on the broiled pan and cooking it on high for about 6 minutes per side. This was a large cut of beef and that resulted in a perfect medium doneness. Also a side note on the importance on letting any piece of meat rest after cooking. I know it's tempting to dive right in but you really want to give that meat a chance to rest so that it remains nice and juicy.

This dish pairs great with cauliflower rice (or white rice) along with a simple veggie stir-fry.
Ingredients
  • 2 lbs flank steak
  • 1 cup tamari or coconut aminos
  • 1/2 cup sesame oil
  • 4 tbsp honey
  • 2 tsp grated ginger (grated)
  • 2 cloves garlic (grated)
  • Juice of 2 limes (4 - 5 tablespoons)
  • Sesame seeds and greens onions for garnish
Method
In a medium mixing bowl combine tamari/coconut aminos, sesame oil, honey, ginger, garlic, and lime juice. Stir until fully combined. Divide mixture in half in separate bowls. Use half the sauce to marinate the steak. Pour sauce over the steak, ensuring that it is fully coated. Marinate in the refrigerator for 4 hours, or overnight. Keep the other half of the sauce in the refrigerator as well until you are ready to cook the steak.

Grill/broil the steak to your liking. I broiled the steak in the oven for about 6 minutes a side and it came out to a perfect medium.

As your steak is cooking, place the remaining half of your sauce in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring often for 5 - 10 minutes. The sauce will reduce and become thick.

Once the steak is cooked to your liking, remove the grill/oven. Let rest for 10 minutes. This is important, do not skip this step! Slice steak into even strips and pour the sauce reduction overtop. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onion.

I love foods that have some beef in it and I want them to be baked and there are other things that we can get if we will bake the meat that we want to eat. It is healthier and it is a good way to have a better life because we want that life. A life that is good and filled with nutrients. I want to know more about the hobbies that we can do at our house so that we will not be sad. Let us look forward to a wonderful community.
